Executive producer of “Resident Evil 4” VR remake defends censorship of light flirtatious banter between a dreaded straight man and a female character: “It’s 2022 and some of this stuff doesn’t age well” (boundingintocomics.com)

Modern anime is mass produced and predictable, so if the "current trend" isn't enjoyable to you it'll be garbage for years. We are just leaving the isekai years behind and going into the "slice of life WITH A TWIST" one, both of which leave a lot of bad tastes to some people.

Its less finding a year where things went to woke shit, and finding the generations that appeal to you because other ones likely won't.

Modern anime is mass produced and predictable

On top of all that you have the varying production qualities between seasons regardless of whether a show is a hit.

Two of the more popular anime out there are My Hero Academia and One Punch Man and both have had subsequent seasons that were at times drastically lower in quality than the previous. Naruto/Boruto also have this problem where some fights clearly have a higher budget than the rest of the episode.

MHA follows the fairly common pattern of ending seasons with a big fight and season 1 did this very well by also tying in the full duration of one of the main music tracks to the fight. A fight that was fairly action packed from start to finish, with the added monologuing that often occurs in anime. However a later fight while also tying in a full series track wasn't really much more than two or three punches being thrown with most of the animation being the two combat participants standing around idle and talking to each other.

MHA season 1 ends with All Might vs a Frankenstein's monster and the fight is similar to what OPM does by having an entire music piece play throughout. This was a fight in the comics that took 9 pages I think, can't check atm, but the anime version takes about 4 minutes.

4 minutes is just over how long 'You Say Run' lasts, which is a theme that does get used more than once but not as bad as OPM did with Seigi Shikkou.

MHA at least changes the music used in later seasons even if this does result in 'You Say Run' having at least 6 different edits.

Might+U

Katsuki vs Izuku

And they're all versions fans love because they stand out from each other despite their similarities. Of you were to ask someone who watched MHA what they think of when listening to Might+U the two most common answers will be either regarding Eri or the final fight in the second movie. Likewise asking about Katsuki vs Izuku will either be about the fight the song is named for or the sparring match between 1A and Tintin Mirio. The music stands out that much as as seems to be an unfortunate trend these days, the music of a series/season/movie is often the best part of the show.

Tron Legacy would be an example of this in movies.

As for OPM, season 2 not only has no new music pieces having reused the entire season 1 OST, but the executions are also worse.

The season 1 finale final encounter between Saitama and Boros lasts almost as long as the full version of Seigi Shikkou, leaving out about two bars of the entire 1:47 track.

It's use in season 2 for a similar final confrontation [where Saitama doesn't have an equivalent battle at this point in the arc season 2 is dealing with] is not only horribly cut down but lazily reused.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2bMmy86j84Q

That's the entire confrontation, BTW. 30 seconds. It's not a trailer or fan made edit. That's how it actually happened when Saitama finally showed up.

Now sure OPM is meant to be a parody of superheroes in the first place but the Saitama vs Boros fight still lasts quite long and there it a lot more to that fight than the clip above, it's just Saitama isn't fighting back until that last bit because he can kill anything with a single punch as per the name of the show. Boros regens so much he can take a few punches but still is completely overpowered once Saitama actually tries.

Meanwhile the Elder Centipede in season 2 is mostly shown fighting Genos or Bang and Bang's brother however none of them actually manage to do enough hence King calling in Saitama.

While this is how the comics go down it's a shit fight to end a season with.

And now I need to go charge my phone because writing this post took forever on mobile trying to sort all the links and then reformat things.

Any anime with classical masculine figures? Modern or otherwise?

Depends on what you mean by classical masculine. But there are dozens of martial arts and sports series to pick from which are usually manly men doing manly things, with various levels of serious to comedy. DBZ is a classic of that, and currently MHA has a lot of masculine characters as part of its absurdly huge roster. Arguably nearly every Gundam series would qualify and that's 40 years of content alone.

Usually the most manly series don't get an anime, simply because of Japanese sensibilities that don't value the same type of masculinity to fund it, but there are manga literally every to cover everything.
