The FAA is already screwing SpaceX. They put off the Environmental Assessment for their Boca Chica operations another month. And at the end of that month they will put it off again, just like the last three times. They will make sure that Starship does not launch before the Senate Lunch System. They even have Bernie Sanders attacking SpaceX again.
Conspiracy theory: This entire play at buying twatter was a gambit to get them to stop messing with his launches. He knows the DS wants to keep control of an important asset in their campaign of social manipulation (hence why they don't care about profits) so he signaled his intention to take that asset. Messages were exchanged behind the scenes. The environmental assessment will be put back on the fast track. He'll leave their toy alone for the time being.
I know it's a ridiculous idea. Just wanted to put it out there before I forgot.

They would stop all SpaceX operations and prevent him from moving them overseas with ITAR. Sanders and Biden are salivating for that opportunity.
