they were not aware of where they had come from in Ukraine, but they have been travelling for so long and will need time to both acclimatise to their new situation and get their bearings.

I.e. African migrants are now claiming to be from Ukraine because it's a free pass into the European country of their choice.

True. But a lot in the media are focusing on these “poor Africans” in Ukraine. I’m very skeptical about stories alleging racism.
