They may be obligated to send a car out to do a wellness check on a call.
I know in a lot of jurisdictions fire depts are required to do the same even on an acknowledged false alarm. They slow their response, put supporting units back in service, but the main responding company does have to arrive and look around a bit just to log it as done.
This guy listens to scanners.

Excellent choice. I’ve been really happy with the SDS200. Wish I could use an outdoor antenna though.
