I'm sure you think it's more than odd since you criticize Torba and Gab any chance you get. I don't care for his personal comments but at least he's doing something. We need parallel systems. I want him to start a bank.
When you say "allowed to get this far", what do you think "they" could do to stop him? Gab has its own infrastructure.
Everyone knows I don't like people who push marriage and he's one of the most virtue signally cucks on that topic. But that's not why I don't trust him...okay, it's partially why.
I mean why is Gab the chosen successful right-wing media. What's special about it? How did it survive being breached and losing thousands of people's data? Would a platform that isn't as established as Facebook or Twitter really survive that kind of failure?
As far as I can tell, it's that he is his own person and has refused all VC and major investor money. So he doesn't have some SV hedge fund threatening to cash out their multi-million dollar investment unless he does some particular thing to placate them.
Agree or disagree with the way he's running his show, but he appears to be running it based on whoever is willing to throw him $10 or whatever donations.
If you mean why didn't everyone sue his company to oblivion, I'm guessing that most of his customer base were fairly loyal and would blame the criminals who stole the data more than Torba for failing to secure it. They are in fact "donators" rather than customers. Fortunately Gab don't require personal data for a regular account. I wasn't signed up at the time but I'm sure he promised to secure user data better in the future.
Not really. It's been hard fought the whole way. I say this as someone with no stake in gab -- I don't use it, and social networking is not something I need in my life. Should be a white pill, really. The good guys do survive sometimes. I hate to say "win."

Regulation. You can kill anything with regulation.

Are you retarded? He just spelled it out for you. Gab has their own infrastructure. They’ve already done the hard work of separating from AWS.

It's great. We are building a Parallel Economy and you are allowed to stay behind.
You're only allowed to use Gab Pay if you are married. Please submit your marriage certificate number.
That seems odd. Do you have an article or source for that requirement?
I was making a joke.
I can appreciate you making a joke that will be funny to you and funny to your audience for entirely different reasons.
Maybe, maybe not. He does actually host his own shit so it would take more effort to bring down
To what end, though
If hypothetically he was backed by feds (which I don’t think he is), there are several ends that could be accomplished:
Corner the market so an actual “parallel economy” would have too much competition to be successful.
Placate conservatives enough to decrease resistance or possible future resistance.
Have the ability to control and carefully monitor the transactions of dissidents.
Yet another "breach"?
They already know who you are
Maybe not, considering they keep on trying to recruit me to low level tech support positions.
Something shady. Maybe feds, maybe Big Tech itself.
