That’s still kinda my shock though, like I’m not discounting Maya Angelou or Frederick Douglas as brilliant writers, but they’re pigeonholed in to borderline race-based categories. I literally couldn’t find one fantasy or sci-fi book that I could attribute to a black author.
Still waiting for "First Black To Have Written Anything Interesting". Any takers?

Walter Moseley wasn’t bad. I like his private detective series. But any black author that is promoted today will most likely push the usual message
