Are things really that bad for modern gaming? I’ve pretty much always only bought one or two games a year at full price since I was old enough to buy my own games, even in the so-called good old days, and last gen did have some absolute bangers, there’s also a lot to look forward to.
Only if you focus on the AAA market. Indies and AA tier games have been excellent, and some of my favorite games ever have come out in recent times. So make of that what you will.

Zachtronics-like programming and engineering play things to groom children and themselves into competitive self-sustaining efficiency loops. City builders. Flight sims that can import saves from the aforementioned city builders. Then we'd all be on various extraterrestrial or orbital colonies with Gundams by now.
