"Many young women at the university are worried their futures are in the hands of a tenured professor who believes they do not deserve to be there and occupy a seat that belongs to a man," Green said.
The professor said no such thing. He said it's a waste spending a bunch of time and money trying to recruit from a group (women) who clearly aren't interested in these fields.
Straw man has a point, women rarely spend a full 30 years working. Time spent training a woman is less valuable than the same time spent training a man, as the man will use the training for longer. Since there are a limited number of seats in the medicine and law schools, society benefits more by giving those seats to men. Women in medicine is a partial cause of the doctor shortage.
