why is it stupid to be proud of your peoples history and their achievements? they are your kin, in a way, and just like a father, brother, uncle can and should be proud of the achievements of their close kin, so you should be proud of the greater family you are part of.

I've got the red hair gene. I'm looking around, and not a lot of "white" people seem to have it. They are missing a critical gene of commonality. Just as a black person may not have the same melanin levels in their genetics, so too does a white person not have the same red hair levels.
If I am proud of the "greater family", then I'm proud of the human who made transportable refridgeration, a black man. If the "greater family" requires closer genetics, then Germans, French, Italians, Spaniards all need to get lost, too.

I am proud of my own accomplishments, and respect the accomplishments of humanity as a whole, but do not lay claim to them for merely sharing a trait or two.

on the other you have those cultures that created monuments that lasted thousands of years, who created art and literature and philosophy and systems of government, and yet you are supposed to feel no pride in belonging to one group over another?
it is true that just belonging to one particular culture or race doesnt make you, yourself automatically better than people of another culture or race, still i dont see a reason why feeling proud of your culture is wrong or stupid.
Because it’s the same as being proud you rolled well on a craps table, or got dealt the best possible hand in poker. It was all chance. Nothing wrong with celebrating a cultures achievements. But don’t take pride in the accomplishments of those who came before you, you didn’t make those great things happen. Just like you bare no shame in any thing awful your culture/country/ancestors may have done in history.

Nope most of my ancestry is traced back to the uk and maybe some French and German post colonization. Neither proud or ashamed of it. It’s just path different genes took to make me.
