It’s not something you had any part of achieving so taking pride in it is stupid.
And yet being left handed massively effected my life and abilities, enough so that I do feel accomplished in adapting and overcoming the hardships that it brought about however minor they were in the grand scheme.
Almost exactly like something all races might go through!
The hard ship of being sought after to play baseball? Or the awkwardness of driving a stick shift in the US? Coming from an ambidextrous person I don’t see being left hand dominate as neither something that would be a hardship or major benefit other than pitching and hitting in baseball.
And your achievements would be made by you actually achieving something personally. Your achievements mean shit to any other left handed person. Any left handed person who is proud of your achievements because they too are left handed is stupid.
It’s like being proud to be white because Henry Ford came up with the assembly line and was also white. You didn’t achieve that. Stop taking pride in the accomplishments of greater men. Unless you want to take on collective embarrassment or guilt done by lesser men you also share a trait with. Jimmy Carter was an idiot who turned over the Panama Canal and he was white. Or any of Joe Biden’s colossal fuck ups done over the past 8 months. You want to take the blame for his stupid accomplishments too?
So you have no idea the struggle when you have no option but to use stuff specifically made not for you, but you think you do and dismiss it. Instead you literally have the best of all worlds available to you, but think other people don't really have problems when they aren't so lucky. Well done, that's the dumbest shit I've seen all day.
How about failing classes because your hand dragging across paper smears the pencil so significantly its entirely a black smudge? Numerous shop tools made for the comfort/accessibility of right handed people, leading to incredibly awkward, painful or unsafe usage when in a Left hand? Being openly and constantly screamed at as a child because you "aren't doing it right" by authority figures?
Little shit like that adds up to little bits of pride when you overcome it, even if its a minor part of life. I wouldn't even put it in my biography its so minor, but its your dumb example.
I don't really care about people's whiteness. I care that you are so blind you can't see the difference between "I'm proud of how I was born" and "I'm proud that I overcame struggles that came about because of how I was born."
You have no clue about the struggles of right handed people or ambidextrous people. It’s the same dumb argument about white privilege. A White person does not know what it’s like to be black and never will and neither does a black person know what it’s like to be white, or a man on what it’s like to be a woman or a woman a man. You want to jump into an oppression olympics go for it. Point being you had no control over being left handed. You do not share in any accomplishments made by other left handed people and they don’t share yours. You want to be proud of an accomplishment you made good for you. But being proud of being left hand dominant is dumb. Just like being proud or ashamed of any other trait you personally had no control over.
You have no clue about the struggles of right handed people or ambidextrous people.
And you had zero idea the struggles of left handed people, but you ran your mouth like you did and now have to fall back on the "NOBODY KNOWS ANYONE'S STRUGGLES" goalpost when called on it. You can just admit your example was poor, instead of trying to soapbox around it with empty platitudes.
Also you are still dodging the difference between "proud I was born this way" and "proud of the obstacles I overcame because I was born this way, and proud of the (sometimes true) assumption that others like me did the same."
