Microsoft is forcing people to use accounts to use windows 11.

Cool. Time to permanently migrate to Linux.
Unfortunately many games don't run on Linux which is the only reason I still have Windows installed, too.
At least the Pro version doesn't appear to have this shit and it's dirt cheap around here. Once I figure out how to get rid of all the bloat and telemetry I might upgrade from 7 to 10/11 eventually.
Proton on Linux works great for every game I've tried.
Look up Windows 10 LTSC. It cuts down on nearly all the bloat, best version of 10 there is. I switched to it from Win7 about 6 months ago, and don't regret it so far.
There are tools around to remove all the crap Win10 brings.
LTSC is better. There will also be a new version out this year that will be the last big patches on Windows 10 and probably include things like Direct Storage.
The only thing similar to LTSC would be things like Ghost Spectre, Tech Yes city builds of Windows 10.
Didn't Steam Deck have it's own gaming OS that works with Steam games? Is it possible to port it to PC through mod or emulations?
SteamOS is free to download and it's based on Linux. That's why Valve are putting in all this work to make Steam games run on Linux
SteamOS is focused for playing games on TV and as such may prove difficult when used as a desktop OS. Though SteamOS is Debian based so you can just pick any Debian-based distro if you truly want
I've chosen to ignore games that require supporting the evil empire.
fedora + gnome4 its very decent now.. distinctly not windows and not osx.. and to watch video you need to install some extra packages but its very usable now
The latest Debian stable release is really good too. Desktop Linux has come a long way in the past 20 years.
I've been using Mint, until I swapped my GPU and then I ran into some driver issues.
Not sure if I should stick to it or try something else. Was pretty happy with Mint until then, but stopped using it because I was preoccupied with too many other things to program.
I'm not going to link my PC to a MS account so that they can track me, spy on me and snitch to the political police.
The main problem with Linux is that compared to Windows, many trivial tasks are a pain in the ass. Of course, Linux is superior and I have a few machines running it, but it requires a commitment of desire, time and memory.
Yeah I just keep getting a popup saying "you have a problem with your microsoft sign-in" and I just ignore it.
Works fine.
Teacher told me in 2006 windows would be moving to a subscription model. Didn't believe it... Time to learn about linux or at worst leave win quarentined in a virtual machine.
The Windows account won't even matter and expect them to backtrack from the requirement to make morons think they are "winning" something. They track you at a hardware level with TPM 2.0 now. They tried a requirement with Windows 8 but security officers around the world called it out. Now those people have been replaced and the media more consolidated.
"Authorities at Germany's Federal Office for Information Security (BSI)...A machine that contains a Trusted Platform Module and runs software adhering to the Trusted Computing specifications is, arguably, under the control of the vendor – in this case Microsoft. It also identifies the machine to the vendor, meaning that users' identities can be linked to their machines as well as their online activities. As Redmond is a US firm, opponents to the protocols argue, users' data is theoretically accessible to US spooks in the National Security Agency via the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act" https://archive.ph/yTb0E
MS was the first to join the PRISM program. Your OS under Win 11 and TPM 2.0 is now under the control of governments.
Microsoft has steadily been getting "date rapey" over the years, just forcing itself and forcing itself and I can only visualize Bill Gates with his clammy hands trying to climb on me saying "Who are you gonna go to? Linux? You can't leave me so sit the FUCK down. Let it happen...".
It's part of the reason I don't play games anymore, beyond say - old school Halo 3. Completely switched to Linux.
When I first set up Windows 10 I used an account. I had one for the Xbox and I've gotten where I really only use Windows for photo editing and games occasionally, so I didn't think a big deal. Extra bonus feature, when I changed my e-mail address on my Microsoft account for whatever reason it totally broke my Windows login. I had to do some trickery to get in via a local administrator account and ended up totally wiping and starting over local-only.
Not sure I could use Windows 11 anyway, I don't think my system has any support for TPM2. I've really gotten used to Linux over the past couple years anyway to the point I prefer being in Linux for browsing, spreadsheets, day-to-day type stuff.

Fucking hell. Do you guys even read what you post?
They don't want to read, they want to be angry.
I already have one. You could always use a throwaway.
One of the principle guys behind the political and health abuse happening now.
