Cool. Time to permanently migrate to Linux.
Unfortunately many games don't run on Linux which is the only reason I still have Windows installed, too.
At least the Pro version doesn't appear to have this shit and it's dirt cheap around here. Once I figure out how to get rid of all the bloat and telemetry I might upgrade from 7 to 10/11 eventually.
Proton on Linux works great for every game I've tried.
Look up Windows 10 LTSC. It cuts down on nearly all the bloat, best version of 10 there is. I switched to it from Win7 about 6 months ago, and don't regret it so far.
There are tools around to remove all the crap Win10 brings.
LTSC is better. There will also be a new version out this year that will be the last big patches on Windows 10 and probably include things like Direct Storage.
The only thing similar to LTSC would be things like Ghost Spectre, Tech Yes city builds of Windows 10.
Didn't Steam Deck have it's own gaming OS that works with Steam games? Is it possible to port it to PC through mod or emulations?
SteamOS is free to download and it's based on Linux. That's why Valve are putting in all this work to make Steam games run on Linux
SteamOS is focused for playing games on TV and as such may prove difficult when used as a desktop OS. Though SteamOS is Debian based so you can just pick any Debian-based distro if you truly want
I've chosen to ignore games that require supporting the evil empire.
fedora + gnome4 its very decent now.. distinctly not windows and not osx.. and to watch video you need to install some extra packages but its very usable now
The latest Debian stable release is really good too. Desktop Linux has come a long way in the past 20 years.
I've been using Mint, until I swapped my GPU and then I ran into some driver issues.
Not sure if I should stick to it or try something else. Was pretty happy with Mint until then, but stopped using it because I was preoccupied with too many other things to program.
