Remember when the internet was crying for a live adaptation with Keanu or Joseph Gordon-Levitt because they had similar facial features to Spike? Instead we get Harold, a flat chested Mexican nobody, and a black vegan Jet. Ed is apparently “Kimmie Black” now. There isn’t one good casting choice from what I can see. So it’s doubtful there’s anything good and it’s another serving of “enjoy this or you’re a bigot”
I guarantee that every villain will be White hetero males. And any White people in the show at all, will be poor, homeless, criminals, retarded, ignorant, etc; the usual anti-White hate speech.
The guy playing Spike is too old. If anybody could be played by a black guy it would be Jet. That casting doesn't bother me too much. I'm more annoyed at the changes to Faye to make her less fan-servicey. She has giant boobs and wears hotpants. And Ein wouldn't need a leash.
There were plenty of black prominent side characters if they were shoehorning diversity. Frankly the duo on the bounty hunter show could have been played off hilariously and served a larger role in a live action series.
The Bounty Hunter hosts imply they could be in contact with Spike's team a couple times in the show, when they comment on arrests as they're being made, or recent turn-ins. It would be easy to make them appear more prominantly doing interviews or plot-commentary, and it wouldn't even be too non-canon.
But the girl's outfit is problematic, I'm sure. Even though the fact it is "problematic" is likely the POINT of the outfit, I don't think Netflix is going to get the nuance that Bounty Hunters are not moral, upstanding citizens, but rather deeply flawed people in general, and would have a central command structure that is also deeply flawed. She wears an open-front no-bra outfit to get viewership among problematic people.
Of course, Faye dresses as she does in order to put people off their guard, too. It's also an occupational uniform, in a way: It allows her to bounty hunt safer and easier. Her first real response to being caught was seduction, which isn't as effective if dressed like a nun. If there's an outfit that would do it better, she changes outfits, it's not an affectation or a societal expectation, it's her job and life security. And Netflix isn't going to get that, I'm sure.
Ill stick with the cartoon. I assume this is Netflix
Yes, it is the N.
Every goddamned time
What?
The thing that really gets me about live action adaptations is that aside from blackwashing, etc. they never seem to bother getting costumes right.
Starfire in Titans for example looks like a hooker from Detroit, and Faye in this only seems to have the shirt right and nothing else. She doesn't even have boobs, something you'd think would be a must for someone who's supposed to be a femme fatale.
Trigun was better in the end anyway.
His VA in the show is a black dude.
Lolololol... Anyone that has Netflix is retarded.
