Any time I am forced to use Reddit (deleted my account, I mean just to browse it) I always log onto old.reddit.com instead of reddit.com. Bypasses all that horse shit.
Hell RealNetworks (buffering...) is still around. Their office is right across from the baseball stadium in downtown Seattle. Though I can't imagine what they could possibly do nowadays that requires staff, let alone staff in an expensive office building.
From Wikipedia: RealNetworks started as Progressive Networks - founded in 1994. "The original goal of the company was to provide a distribution channel for politically progressive content."
An alternative to the various options so far suggested is to use the .compact version of the site. It shits the bed if you try to open a post with the built in video and gallery in use but it does mean you bypass most css fuckery so any subs that prevent or remove downvoting unless you subscribe are SOOL because compact let's you downvote regardless.

for the time being - until they remove/patch the old version
True... although it's been "old" for like 5 years now, so they've kept it this long.
phones are for shitposting on /pol/ where you don't even need to log in. Only downside is when I'm on a tower where the IPs are b&.
Huh, people still go to reddit for kia2? I would like to see a venn diagram of those people and people using AOL dialup.
Don't bash AoL. I have a hundred disks with hours on them still unused.

Wow: beyond being surprised they have staff at all, I'm surprised they have technical staff to even do something like this.
And I've always considered them the enemy, because I remember using RealPlayer and how shady that piece of shit software was.

To bypass that screen use Desktop mode or login into your Reddit account.
You must enjoy spyware.
I would never download that app. What in the world are you talking about?
Nevermind, apparently I couldn't read.
I've never been to r/popular before so I have no idea why it was pushing me towards that portion of the site.
It's the curated section of the site, filled with leftist propaganda.
It's the reddit admin and Democrat approved posts of reddit.
You repeat yourself
R/ Popular is the "curated" version of the old Front Page, only some subreddits will show up.
i think going to old.reddit.com fixes this problem
