What does it say about your reboot strategy when the best way to preserve fan interest is to deliberately lie about what is in the show? Instead of embracing the woke feminist direction as something he believes is legitimately good and worthwhile and attractive to viewers, Kevin Smith ran from it as decisively as he could. That's a pretty direct acknowledgement that such content is largely unwanted.
So they know this shit isn't popular, and yet they once again chose that direction. Sorta confirms the notion that most of this leftist idiocy in entertainment is ideologically motivated even to the utter detriment of profit.
With that in mind, I'm thinking maybe the lie wasn't just about duping more people into watching the show. Maybe leftist subversives can't get off unless the old school fans are actually ambushed by the destruction of their favorite franchises. I mean what joy is there in tearing down a man's childhood favorites if he's already resigned to your subversion? If he sees you coming from a mile away, you won't be able to extract the same satisfaction from his muted disappointment and frustration.
Sounds almost insane, but would you really put it past these people? One of the more choice critic reviewers even says that she enjoys the show primarily because she knows it pisses off the old school male fans. That's the level of petty spite and envy we are dealing with here.
A criminally underrated aspect of the Game of Thrones collapse was the fact that the show character-assassinated (or literally assassinated) almost every male lead in an effort to hastily shift the spotlight to (mostly inferior) female characters. Jon, Tyrion, Varys, Jamie, Littlefinger - these were the most compelling characters on the show, and they were all made stupid, subservient, or impotent so that female characters could take over. The transition was clear as day when you think about it, and yet almost no one seems to have noticed it.
Yeah, they did the same thing in Avengers endgame.
Iron man - dead.
Thor - fat comic relief.
Hulk - no longer a beast, now a laid back stoner who is effectively crippled by the end of the movie.
Captain America - rendered old through time travel/space magic.
Starlord - reduced to a kick in the balls gag.
And then of course there was that cringey girl power team up scene. My wife leaned over to me in the cinema and whispered “guess we can write Marvel off from this point onwards”. Man was she right. Didn’t care for whamenvision, and Loki (or Woki?) was pretty god damn terrible too. Didnt even bother with Black Whaddow. I’m out.
I have an opinion. Fat Thor could have been actually really good, had they gone "he has massive ptsd from everything, and failing to kill the person who did it to stop them".
They'd never go into that level of detail though.
Yea I felt that not letting Jon Snow at least fight the night king was ridiculous
Oh, but the guy who literally had his balls cut off and taught to consider himself a dog was a great hero.
Or anyone with a Valyrian sword fighting any of the other ice sword wielding bad guys since the Hardholme episode specifically highlighted Valyrian steel was the only thing that could not only parry the ice blades but kill the wielders.
Everything after that involving collecting other Valyrian blades was just pointless because it never went anywhere and instead it was just the main case against wave after wave of zombies that should have killed many of them several times over yet somehow always failed to.
Yea. That show just totally ignored so many plot points and storylines. So weird for a show to be considered one of the all time greats only to bomb miserably
