Mandatory: Israel (Pfizer head was denied entry previously because he wasn't vaccinated)

Vaccine Passports:

  • Canada (soon)
  • Japan (in July)
  • EU (edit: EUDCC, passport-like system, but vaccine not required. My post below has more info)
  • ASEAN (Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar)

Travel without vaccine passport may still be allowed, but with more restrictions (quarantine). Union nations may have individual rules, although still use the passports.

Seems like Japan is issuing vaccine passports for their people wanting to travel abroad but in terms of people coming in to Japan they aren't changing anything.

Eastern Europe sure loves their authoritarianism.

Since you seem knowledgeable about this - how are they verifying this? Do they just make you sign something you could lie on?

Each country/union handles it differently, but it would be hard to fake. In general:

For the PCR test, you have to submit the date/time of the test, the result, and who provided the test 72 hours before departure. They could contact the test provider to confirm. People have been denied entry into Canada because they considered their test provider illegitimate.

For injection certification, staff at injection locations (or testing locations) submit information to the government, and the government stores it in a database. The government then provides a document to the injected person , which contains a QR code. If the QR code is scanned, it will connect to wherever that data is stored to provide verification. Within the EU, the home country will just confirm whether it's a pass or fail, in other countries, it may show all the stored data (name, birth date, injection type, date of injection, and anything else).

So we have to get a medical profession that will collaborate to sign off on that without actually giving us the vaccine.

Thank you. So Italy hasn’t?

Do you think this will be a permanent thing and persons without vaccine won’t be able to ever travel again to those countries?

Europe doesn't require a vaccine. The general idea seems to be you have to be vaccinated OR pass a test OR have proof that you recovered from an infection.

Some countries may require quarantines. Those vary in length. Some are only required if you're from high risk areas and others can be skipped if you provide any of the above proofs.

EU Digital COVID Certificate (More Info)

As Lurker said, it certifies that a person has:

  • been vaccinated (with EU authorized vaccine, but member states can ALSO accept other WHO approved vaccines)
  • received a negative test (within 72 hours for PCR, and where accepted 48 hours for rapid antigen test)
  • or recovered (within max 180 days).

EU Digital COVID Certificate (EUDCC) holder should in principle be exempted from free movement restrictions: Member States should refrain from imposing additional travel restrictions on the holders of an EU Digital COVID Certificate, unless they are necessary and proportionate to safeguard public health.

In such a case – for instance as a reaction to new variants of concern – that Member State would have to notify the Commission and all other Member States and justify this decision.

Connected, Issuing, or Verifying EUDCC: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Iceland, Norway

Technically ready, but not connected to EUDCC: Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Malta, The Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Liechtenstein, Switzerland

Italics for non-EU countries

  • The EUDCC will apply until 1 July 2022, but may be extended.
  • Non-EU country certificates in compliance and interoperable with the EU system can be adopted (by the Commission) on the basis they would be accepted according to the same conditions as EUDCC
  • The commission is working to make their certificates compatible with countries outside the EU. IT is looking to the WHO and the International Civil Aviation Organization to establish specifications and guidance for digital documentation of vaccine status.

I'm not sure that site is up to date. For example it says you can't travel from the US to Germany. However the official German Ministy of Health site has no such restrictions (you still need to be vaxxed, recovered or test negative).

For the ccp virus or for the other diseases?

I know yellow fever vaccine is a requirement for almost all the countries in the tropics.

Mexico hasn't and seems like they won't. I went there in the middle of the pandemic, to escape US lockdowns, with zero problems or even being told to quarantine in Mexico city.....I did drive there though so flying there MIGHT be different.

You could fly there all during the pandemic and hang out without a mask.
