I've had this happen to me twice in my life. If only my skin was darker so I could post some vapid, self-absorbed Twitter posts decrying systemic racism and oppression like the truly brave in that comment thread.
Oh, and economic reparations, of course:
This happened to me recently at Whole Foods. A white child mistook me from working there and their parent shushed them quickly but didn’t engage with me. I brushed it off. When I went to checkout the item I was buying rung up free because the price tag was missing. Look at God?
I've had people call me and ask for computer help. Twice, which isn't a lot, but still, twice. Does this make me some tech support minority because of mistaken identity?
Maybe if I was black all the short people would quit asking me to reach down products for them. Almost worth having to sacrifice my individual identity because I was born a certain way. Oh wait, my tall black friends get asked the same, odd how we nicely assist people regardless of melanin or imagined genitalia. It’s almost like people can move past the imaginary trappings of their race and understand that people don’t always make assumptions off your melanin count.
Because going off on random people is a sign of an uncontrolled temper.
Really, I'm a white dude and I've been asked for sales advice at several stores. If your shirt is even an approximate shade of the store polo you'll get that. Try wearing something nice out next time.
Imagine thinking everything was related to the color of your skin.

An opportunity to be an honest human being, completely missed.
And everyone clapped and gave her 100 dollars.
Bitch just lied to justify being a thief.
"Hi, I'm a doctor that shoplifts at Whole Foods."
Different posters. The doctor is the original Twitter nobody, the Whole Foods shoplifter is a different, presumably non-doctor, nobody.
They're all doctors, present or future. Don't you know?

It happens to everyone. Get over it
