My favorite was the prediction that cities in Florida would eventually be underwater due to man-made global warming melting the ice caps.
Many years later a hurricane barreled though Florida, and one city had a couple inches of flood water. That was apparently enough to satisfy the prediction and the doomers were all "See!?! See!!? We were right! The city was underwater!"
Of course the water receded soon after, but the doomers ignored that part.
That's because loosing Florida is a potential worst-case scenario after 250 years or so.
I think it would require, like a full 5-8 degrees of warming, and you'd be seeing major water level rises, even in underground water tables, and up rivers and waterways. Yeah, you'd lose Flordia... but you'd also lose most of the East Coast too. You'd probably displace well over 100 million Americans.
If only we sacrificed some virgins climate change could go away!
(Or my older favorite saying "Climate Change" is the story leftist parents tell their children to get them to eat their vegetables and go to bed on time!)
You become something higher than the average adherent, you become an acolyte. You don't get any robes to show off but you might throw a sticker on your car or talk loudly about your reusable bags every time you go grocery shopping.
They are allowed to demand data for everything, even though their arguments are unfalsifiable, but you can't use data that makes them uncomfortable either.
Example. Housing and Urban development has found that Black's are disproportionately denied home loans from Wells Fargo. Ignore low credit scores lawsuit ensues.
Crime statistics show that blacks are far more likely to commit gun violence than any other race. We need to look at other factors at play.
Weather (and other big, uncontrollable, hard-to-understand things like earthquakes, meteor storms, eclipses, epidemics, etc) would just be where it starts, though. Once you've got the pack/troop/herd convinced that they "angered the gods", you can start being nitpicky over other things, and more nitpicky over behaviour (because storms and droughts aren't controllable by the priest-kings.)

Hah wow that’s actually a really interesting take...
More like, sacrifice your standard of living and stability. We must embrace global communism or Captain Planet will punish us.

Plague-doctoring.

At least Branch Covidians get to show off their designer masks.
You aren't wrong.
I figure when they start to give out the armbands/pieces of flair it won't be for the
The left loves loosely defined problems that have no real measurable metric for success. Racism, sexism, climate, wage gap.
If you're argument against a progressive isn't quantifiable, it doesn't count. Hate data doesn't count either.
Did you drop this /s?
I hate the convention of the /s, especially in a post irony world.
I also hate how it has become necessary in so many cases. But I have no idea what you were trying to say in the earlier post.

We are in agreement on that.
