Yes, a big freeze caused by a "a bright purple streak shot across the night sky" makes it so the colonization never happened. And then some purple mark starts appearing on people, plants, and animals. And then after the freeze starts to recede, a tech boom occurs, and all the gentle tribals start developing advanced technology, and go to war with one another.
Do not hate me but I think it would be a fine setting except that it is suppose to also be diverse.
There is no way I can fathom a world where without colonization and an ice age it would somehow be a diverse land.
I can't but feel that cramming diversity in this setting would be a spit in the face of native american culture.
People may not realize that even the most diverse places now were not diverse 50 years ago. Even UK had less then 3% ethnically foreign people 50 years ago.
