The only freedoms or rights you have are the ones you can defend with weapons, otherwise they are privileges that have been granted to you temporarily.

What's that quote from Hunter S Thompson? Freedom dies unless it is used or something like that? Too bad people today are weak and spineless and won't stand up for themselves against actual Tyranny. Back then we didn't had Pornhub and Amazon. That's why when you wanted to get anything you had to get out of your house and put up with other people.
Also you couldn't just block someone on twitter so if someone gave you shit you either handled it or ignored and let it temper your patience.
This kind of environment naturally produced sturdy people.
