I won't pretend the right has even close to a spotless record, but it's a tactic that is only valid if you hold the oaths and responsibilities of your office in total contempt, given that you're nakedly lying to and defrauding the public you're supposed to be serving.
So I'd rather they didn't learn that. I'd rather they learn to proactively attack the opposition on the mountain of terrible things they actually do.
At some point you don't have a choice. You have to diametrically opposed ideas on how to run one federal government. Historically the last side standing wins. So far that is looking to be the left because they are willing to be ruthless. The right is still busy trying to hold on to the notion that somehow the other side can be reasoned with through rational processes. They can't Not until they suffer under the same tactics they inflict on others. I always say that it's now a mud wrestling contest. And until we roll up our sleeves, wade in, and then body slam them face first into the mud until they cry uncle we're not having any kind of rational conversation. Once they do cry uncle, then you can help them up, wipe some of the mud off and move on. Until we reach that point this is a war.
If they don't want to learn that, what they need to learn instead is how to punish those who do to keep the playing field fair. This idea that elected officials can be as corrupt as they like and face no consequences for their corruption is going to destroy our Republic before long, if it hasn't already caused irreparable harm to it.

People like to accuse the Right of being toothless. But really, would we want another party just as ruthless and unethical as the left?
