I can appreciate the realization that this war (and I think we can call it one) cannot be measured by historical events. The information age was short-lived and got subverted to become the misinformation age - having noticed it years ago, I'm not surprised by how things have gotten bad (I did think it'd take another decade, though).
I can't bring myself to be afraid, however, because uncertain risk shouldn't be feared. If I were to fear uncertain risk, I'd never leave the house and still be afraid because it's very easy to break into my home and kill me. I'm just a little stupefied, and deeply concerned about the future of...everyone, I guess.
Possible solutions are looking very grim. What good is anything if a country isn't allowed to remove central banking or otherwise disengage from foreign manipulation?
If we had a militia system, and allowed the states themselves to arm and war-game
I'm imagining a world where instead of football being the american pastime, it's having militias compete against one another. I'd watch it if it didn't have announcers. Tailor the competitions to promote skills that are widely beneficial for american militia. Don't give them a damned salary, that shit brings in people who just want money. Possibly don't even name specific men because that'd be a draw for fame-seekers.
That's a clearly superior solution when it comes to preserving information for personal use, but I don't think it would hold up as proof of history or evidence of lies. I'm not great at computers, but I don't see how it'd be possible to locally store data in a format that cannot be altered by the user - and if it were possible, would it be in a form that provides a desirable user experience?
Isn't this kind of thing why everyone switched to other archive sites? We should have a guide for which ones hold up a degree of integrity. One may already exist that I'm unaware of.
A quick look shows me that both kia2 (reddit version) and voat feature links from archive.is. That implies that it's the most reliable one at this moment (and makes it a desirable target for blackmail).
Thanks for the writeup.
Browsed IP2always briefly. Can I get a synopsis on their official purpose? Is it an eceleb thing? It reads like an eceleb thing. Seems like a curious addition to the .win ring.
The uptick in anti-loli stuff is mostly due to an ongoing campaign to push people prone to knee-jerk responses into crafting a deflective wall to protect active child abusers from effective organized investigation. Kinda like how Occupy Wall Street got corrupted; people start making you uncomfortable, so you send in some paid agents to shake things up.
As you may have noticed, this strategy if VERY effective, so you should expect to see more of it for decades to come.
I think the argument is often used in bad faith, but like many attack vectors, has a kernel of truth somewhere. Here's an easy example: genital mutilation - traditionally enforced through religion, but unfortunately accepted by many people who have little association with such religion.
But the intention of the argument is to bring up non-physical abuse. I wasn't a happy child, I know abuse can be non-physical. So what's a religious philosophy that could be considered abuse? There's at least a couple that promote victimhood and "us versus them", which also seem closely tied to an encouragement to hinder outsiders via discouraging traits like empathy (to outsiders) and generally dehumanizing outsiders. I'll even give a portion of that a pass because I think it's natural to care less for outsiders than insiders, but not to the extent that I understand those religions. Just the victimhood thing is really wicked and most of the users here should understand how so.
And look how much text I generated trying to respond to propaganda. That's part of the point, is not to make a real argument, but to make statements that people are reluctant to address fully due to time/effort compared to instigators dropping one-liners. I'll share a hint and a theory: these modern propagandists (some call them "leftists") are suffering from a mental condition I've started calling Mirror Syndrome. A person with Mirror Syndrome must, as a prerequisite, have lost or severely deteriorated their ability to self-reflect and look within themselves willingly (this shouldn't be a common thing and it is alarming to see it widespread). The person with Mirror Syndrome actually is in a constant state of accidental introspection..by looking at others. You know how male feminist allies often end up being rapists? They have no idea that they're acknowledging their own problems - they seriously think the qualities of a rapist are present in all other men because it's how they interpret their observations. Simply, a person with Mirror Syndrome is only capable of seeing themselves by looking at the mirror of others - and be sure, they must look at others, because it is very uncomfortable to look down and not see a body or any evidence of a self.
The hint is to consider the possibility that any person making cheap, prodding arguments has Mirror Syndrome. Oversimply, ask yourself if the retort "no u" might explain why they might really believe the accusations they make of others. Personally, I've been pursuing the idea seriously because I want to come up with a method to redeem the lost...it just remains out of my reach.
I'd support the voiding of all academic degrees. What were they really used for? Pretty much just to make an appeal to authority in order to convince a potential employer that you know your stuff. The paper only offers a guarantee that you cleared your curriculum credits, even a straight D student can do that. There's no guarantee that they had decent teachers or any sort of standardization in their testing (and even standardization doesn't prevent it from being the old memorization test that tests only short term learning).
I'd much prefer individual employers being responsible for the testing of aptitude and knowledge in every potential employee. If the employer's one of the lazy fucks that doesn't even check references after asking for them, they can just give a dummy test with multiple choice answers to reflect their own investment.
Though I imagine some points of failure in this, such as there being enough lazy fucks to make a market for outsourcing their aptitude tests, then those third parties homogenizing their testing to open up a diploma system where you can take a test once and be cleared for all future tests. Or some anti-discrimination legislature being passed to restrict what is allowed to be tested. I know, it's no perfect solution.
I won't deny the likelihood. I honestly struggle to piece together the truth of events from that period because I had no political awareness until obama's second term. So I do enjoy hearing other ideas and opinions on that timeframe.
I'll take that as a no, but I'll answer your question. Private forum called mypostingcareer. I used to read it often, had some decent essays and book reviews, but it was public then. Have to pay money just to read it now.
I'll assume you just read books.
...Are you from MPC? I don't see terms like managerial and atomization much, but I saw them a lot when I was there.
Finally I was born in 1980. Anyone else around my age feel like we were making progress in the racial unity area as a society until Obama?
Looking back, I think things were fine until 9/11. Big event - bad decisions were made that fed into destabilization (ironically and unfortunately giving terrorists a victory). Without those destabilizers, I don't think things could have ramped up under obama the way they did.
I was going to ask who that was until he showed up in this thread. So now I remember.
I think it's enough to note that he has a very "modern 4chan conversation" style. Really makes me miss some of the trolls we had on reddit.
I'll try it out sometime, thanks.
Also, username checks out.
There is some tangential precedent for this if you are aware of Nintendo's long-going crusade against people pirating games (and acting hysterically in the face of people using their IPs without permission). It's a huge bitch to get 3ds roms right now because they somehow have pull with U.S. agencies to take down sites that anger them. They did a huge rom site purge in the past that nuked a bunch of normal sites, though it's been so long I can't be more specific.
I don't want to believe that japanese culture promotes being so retarded about IP law, but maybe there's a faction of hysterical busybodies that are rising to power over there.
You're right to be suspicious though, there is motive (financial and ideological) in removing a popular media form that many westerners are using to escape from constant propaganda and genuinely terrible media.
I'll agree that there's a degree of genetics at play, but I'm a strong supporter of the idea that culture drives a large portion of behavior. Have you seen what passes for black culture in the U.S.? Awful stuff, I can't imagine the state of my mind if I had been raised on that. One could argue that only a lost cause would willingly remain under the influence of a destructive culture, but I was a kid once and know there's only so much agency you can expect until a certain point in maturity is reached. More simply, no one can be expected to choose a better option unless the subject actually understands that they can choose.
It gets difficult to decipher the cultural influence web when it comes to figuring out why so many whites want to kneel, so I understand that it's an unattractive stance to a lot of people. An oversimplification is that we have multiple cultures at work that support the idea of "the strong must serve the weak".
You guys still looking for a css helper? I thought you would've found a volunteer by now. I really miss flairs being on users. Helps me spend less time taking dedicated troll accounts (to put it generously) seriously.
True. I haven't tried any DC shows in several years, but I imagine they have degraded past the point of tolerance. Naivete slips out once in a while as I think maybe that they could be happy with the things they demand.
I watched it again a few years ago. They did have a somewhat woke racism episode, but it was mostly silly. But Static was a great black hero (well, teen Static; I need him to not be so serious and overpowered as his future self). They even had his white buddy playing a somewhat subservient role without seriously harming their relationship.
I do shudder to think of how bad a modern woke take of it could be, now that you mention it. They'd miss the point so hard and probably remove his believable qualities in a frantic pursuit to grab virtues. They'd have to make all of his villains white - that'd be funny. Probably turn the white friend into a bungling simp clown while making the hero a genius king that makes his own inventions.
You're being a little ambiguous, but I get the feeling that you're suggesting we change what behavior is accepted in this space. I think that's not going to take us far here, because we have to strictly follow US law on this site, and what passes for law can be changed and distorted on a whim.
Another matter is that we're here to gather and share information, not to suggest what should be done with that information. This is no rallying point, except perhaps for a good old gamergate operation where we send information to outsiders.
Personally, I don't think rallying/organization is important to move forward. I think it's enough that more and more people are being put through the grinder and being forced to learn essential lessons like the news not being trustworthy. Little things will add up and cognitive dissonance eventually breaks the floodgates, assuming that they aren't a member of the woke cult.
Modern law isn't designed to protect good men from criminals, it's designed to protect criminals from good men. I'd prefer to maintain civility, though, and plan on doing it for as long as I can - but I know where I've drawn the line. Perhaps when I have to act uncivilized I won't be alone, but I'm prepared to fall alone, and I think that kind of resolve is very important in stressful times.
Just bring back Static Shock already, for fuck's sake.
Was Gordon a ginger..? His daughter was, but I just kind of assumed it was from the mother. I mostly watched the older cartoons, so idk what young Gordon or the mother look like. But if Gordon is just an old ginger, that's a little distressing to me because I dislike the whole ginger erasure thing so much.
I think it's healthy to be upset when confronted by events that defy one's morality. I don't think it's of long term benefit to push away people that might otherwise want to be your ally.
I was actually curious when I saw that - not the kind of thing I recall seeing when I dropped by their subreddit. We got some in the move here too, but they typically get downvoted hard - I think people who have been aware of the culture war for a few years have a generally low tolerance for racialism (not to be confused with racism).
On one hand, I don't like things getting censored either, but on the other..well, most of the time criticism of jews in public is done in a shallow manner, and that does form a sort of low effort expectation - there's also a real legal threat if you allow certain ideas to be promoted, like how 9chan got shut down a few months ago because null didn't feel like struggling against federal harassment.
These sound pretty simple to do, but I was originally thinking of something like more of a direct skirmish. Thinking about it now, though, that's basically just forcing militias to play paintball, so I'd rather go a more creative route. Like, whatever things an urban militia would need to train for are probably different from a militia whose territory includes a lot of wilderness, so you'd have different types of mock-manhunts or terrorist suppression.
I think I understand your point about why this would be beneficial, but I'm very wary of things getting corrupted. Taking profit out doesn't make it immune to corruption, of course, but what do you suggest for minimizing the risk of corruption in militias?
