I was initially annoyed by seeing the banner for this pop up on Steam when I logged in today to check my notifications, but out of curiosity I clicked over and had a look at the games. 99% of them were basically indie garbage that got their start on itch.io and aren't worth your time or money. Better to take note of the devs and publishers so you can ignore them in the future, and put the games featured in the showcase on Ignore so similar recommendations don't turn up on your feed in the future.

While there's no getting away from Steam as a platform these days, and it's still the lesser of evils (Epic, Origin, or any other storefront/launcher are universally garbage), that doesn't mean you have to directly give them your money. Use IsThereAnyDeal to find sites with the cheapest prices to buy your keys, or buy them on an alternate store like GoG, or buy directly from the publisher. Yes, it's less convenient to have your purchases scattered, but the best way to make your displeasure known is to vote with your wallet.

This needs more of a signal boost so people see it. I try to buy my keys anywhere but Steam these days. I started doing that when they started charging state sales tax for purchases in my state (because I still think it's bullshit that online sale of goods can be charged tax when there's jack shit the place I live did to deserve that money), but now I do it for the additional reason that I feel there's too much woke bullshit encroaching at Valve.

File that in with "It was just a prank" and "I was only joking", as well. They're all the shield of a coward that's too afraid of the repercussions to own up to their own faults.

Not sure what you're getting at there. I never said you point the gun up in the air and squeeze off some rounds. You should always know your target and what's behind it, and randomly popping off shots is a good way to hurt an innocent bystander. Fire into the dirt on your lawn, or barring that have a starter pistol with blanks for the warning so you're not firing against concrete and risking a ricochet.

This is why you need a trapdoor to the roof. You don't show up in the window and threaten them, you head up to the roof with the weapon, bag of mags, and a bullhorn. You announce that they are trespassing on private property and notify them to disperse or protective action will be taken. Give them 10-30 seconds and fire a warning shot. Full orcs as a PC race is a relatively recent development in the entire scope of TTRPGs. Players had the ability to pick half-orc as a race for a while before they added in the option for full blooded orcs. They weren't really a "diversity" add, per se, but more of a "the players want to play as one of the bad guy races" thing, similar to when Drizz't became the new hot shit in D&D fiction and suddenly they rushed to set up the ability to play as an edgelord Drow.

As someone else stated, the perks and drawbacks of playing a non/demi-human race in D&D are there to balance out the fact that humans are basically the Swiss Army Knives of the setting. Removing racial bonuses is pretty much pulling a Harrison Bergeron on the game as a whole, making one wonder why the hell they'd bother picking a non-human race to begin with.

Projecting that much? Yeah. 90% chance she has some stuff that's kiddie-related, and likely 100% chance there's some Yaoi / Slash-fic / other male-male gay fetish writings or videos on that hard drive.

Disney Star Wars could have been good if they'd just followed the formula and adapted the Dark Horse comics or the Thrawn trilogy as cartoons a la Rebels - use animated versions of the original protagonists so they can be any age and you don't have to trot Harrison Ford's wrinkly balls out on a sound stage, have the originals do the voice overs, and it's a slam-dunk moneymaker.

I bought bootleg copies of the demastered versions of the original trilogy on Blu-ray on eBay just for that reason, right before the "maclunky" edit got dropped on all the streaming services. That last change by the house of the mouse further cemented that I had made the right decision. Screw Lucas's "theatrical vision" and screw Kathleen Kennedy's further destruction of the classics.

I'll agree that 99% of Basket-/Base-/Football is utter shit. They all got boring decades ago and have continued to go downhill, running only on the momentum of long-time fans. For what it's worth, I had high hopes for the XFL reboot that was supposed to happen before COVID ruined everything for everyone. Maybe The Rock and his family can actually make that happen. Until then, I'll happily watch soccer or something else that hasn't been totally infected by general stupidity.

Y'know what the nice thing about Linux is? Anyone out there can fork the kernel and go their own way with development. At this point, Linus needs to just say "fuck it", fork it, and give any of these groups that have a Code of Conduct the finger. Oh, no doubt there. Hell, they almost had me with the nostalgia bait. I had a couple of the single-screen LCD G&W units (Donkey Kong Jr. and Super Mario Bros - the original blue one) when I was a kid and I played the hell out of them, and this announcement hit me hard in the memories. Sure, it'd be nice to have one of these as a shelf-sitter for the collection, but after thinking about it for a while I decided it wasn't worth it. Like you said, it'd make more sense to hit up Amazon or Ali and get an RG350 unit, then load that sucker up with every ROM under the sun.

There we run into the snag of "no shallow content". When I saw the Game-and-Watch announcement I was pretty jazzed, until I read further and realized how much of a ripoff and nostalgia bait it was.
