I see your dilemma. I will have to talk to someone more biblically sound than me because the reason I’ve struggled with it is like you said. It seems we are to just stand there and do nothing. Not even try to convince the person to stop doing evil.
I have struggled with that scripture. On one hand I can understand de-escalating a situation and striving for a peaceful resolution at all times but I don’t believe Jesus would want you to stand idly by and allow someone or yourself to be killed. I do need to have a long discussion about this with my pastor. I’ve been in situations where I’ve been able to walk away from a fight but some people will persist.
You’d think at this point countries would just stop taking in asylees or refugees or at least be able to see an economic migrant for what they are. That being said, watch the media explode if a white South African committed a misdemeanor
