Waterfox is bad too, yeah. They're owned by the ad company System1. I'm not entirely sure on SeaMonkey. They could be good. They're not chromium or Firefox Quantum. Could be a backup to Pale Moon.

Yup. Firefox will be switching to MV3, but last I heard they're keeping WebRequest from MV2. For now. When every other extension developer has moved to the larger and more popular MV3 format, FF will not be able to keep WebRequest if they're going to compete with "modern" chromium browsers. Which seems to be their intent judging from history, as they're going more and more chromium-like.

Bad. It's googles way of forcing the internet to become a package deal, together with Custom Elements/DOM. It'll break most ad-blockers that are extensions, and those that do get re-written are going to be nerfed and allow some ads through. Not enough to cause an uproar, but enough to get people used to it and excuse it with "it's just a few relevant ones". DNS blocking won't work either, as those kinds of ads are served as first-party ads, which is a part of the site itself (and MV3 adblockers can't block Site Elements). Pale Moon still uses the more powerful XUL/UXP addons and allows for the best combo of eMatrix and uBlock Origin.

Bad. They're both google chromium browsers for one. They're also both proprietary closed source. Vivaldi sends home your unique ID and telemetry every 24/7, while Opera is CCP chinese owned.

I'd definitely recommend Alastair Reyonolds for Space Opera. As well as Micheal Cobley, Gary Gibson, and Peter F Hamilton. Throw in Robert Reed and Elizabeth Moon too. Oh, and Julie E Czerenada.

We have those. Have had for a long time. It's hindered by beuracracy though. Flight licences and production "costs".

Not that kind of non-binary. Just means more than on/off or zero/one, which is what our current computers are based on.

It could turn us into Borg, or other non-evil Transhuman versions of a machine-man marriage. Could be good, could be evil. Tech itself is neutral. There are quite a few "evolutionary" paths we could take. "Regress to monkey/animals", stunted/fixed current human, machine-man marriage of individualistic or collectivist, bioengineering.

I'm glad Elon Musk is still doing Space exploration research. It's sorely needed, especially for the future of mankind.

I hope BCI causes "the singularity". Not a fan of the widespread/vague use of the term though. For me it simply means computers becoming sapient. Which likely won't happen until we have quantum CPU's/non-binary computers though.

I was interested in the show when it first announced. I shouldn't have been. It does look to be trash now, yeah. I won't even hate-watch it (I rarely do either).

Earthsea is probably the last I would recommend. Much too Fantasy, and vague magic Deus Ex Machina. Depends on what you like I guess.

Nothing really, I just did this as a write-up for another forum. Comes in handy now and then ;)

There are non-google/bing search engines. Brave search, Mojeek, and Gigablast.

3
Gemmaugr 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yup. Which is why I won't use one until it's free of tracking AND google.

5
Gemmaugr 5 points ago +6 / -1

google is equally, if not more woke. Both are bad.

2
Gemmaugr 2 points ago +3 / -1

Best google chromium fork. Though still a google chromium fork..

1
Gemmaugr 1 point ago +2 / -1

LibreWolf is still a Firefox soft fork though, and downstream of Firefox latest updates. You can remove tracking, yeah, but not the tech baked in.

1
Gemmaugr 1 point ago +2 / -1

You can't really remove google tech from google tech.. Only the most obvious tracking, but not the standards and implementations they want you to have, or the path it takes.

Better than any chromium browser, but still full of google tech. More than you think.

Gemmaugr 11 points ago +12 / -1

Your first mistake is using Edge. An unholy google/microsoft abomination. Your second is using Smartphones. A google/apple abomination. Out of curiosity, what search are you using? A google or microsoft abomination?
