I've recently replayed DA:O and I've noticed a few things

It is a good game despite clunky combat with a lot of lore and love put in to it but:

  • All companion dialogue is you pleasing them. You can't change their mind. This is also a problem with quests like Orzzamar. You can't for instance ask Harrowmont to keep the traditions but increase trade despite not being any issue with tradition. It's either progressive or isolationist to extreme.

  • there is already signs of millennial writing with Alistair.

  • Some lesbian crap that seemed rushed with Oghren's wife. It almost looked like someone tried to add a lesbian in a story that was already done. First it was implied that Oghren started drinking because his wife went to the deep roads without him and he was holding on to hope even after 2 years but apparently he feels nothing for her and she was a lesbian that took her lesbian lover with her. Made 0 sense.

In the DLC Awakening a lot of fighters you talk to are women despite having like 1 female fighter in the original. In the main game you see no female templar but now you have a woman "Ser" templar. It also tries to hammer home how the mages are just oppressed rather than walking timebombs.

It definitely looks like there was a woke escalation between DA:O and the DLC.

For me it's:

  • The Blood of Dawnwalker
  • Duskfade
  • Stoneshard - although it's been in early for years

Honourable mentions:

  • Knight's Path - to early to tell
  • Menace - depends on the Leader roaster. To many shouting women at the moment

I know it's a small thing to be glad about but I noticed that the devs for Stoneshard put Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year instead of the generic Happy Holydays.

I found that refreshing for any game dev: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/625960/view/524236943144255525

The game is also very much in to realism for a medieval game with no woman mayor, smith or guard, as far as I could tell. Strange how the normal seems abnormal.

The game is being advertised as a return to form prequal to HOMM franchise. Assumingly before the first one.

From the steam description: "Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era is the official prequel hailing back to the origins of the genre-defining, critically acclaimed series of turn-based strategy games"

In addition to being a cheap looking homm3 clone there are some red flags.

This is the tier 6 unit upgrade of the humans, please note that the knight was downgraded to tier 5:

This is the unit that replaced the monk: https://mightandmagic.fandom.com/wiki/Lightweaver

The elves have been changed to being green skinned because no white skinned creatures are allowed.

From the unit description humans are insane religious zelots so I assume that they're going to be the bad guys all along in the campaign.

Also the game looks like a cheap mobile copy of homm3. Every item I found early needs to be quirky humor. It has almost no real innovation and homm2 is more appealing visual then this game.

I like Battle Brothers and was looking forward to Menace. From the videos it seems they went for the full representation with way to many women in a combat scenario.

I may be just paranoid after the last 10 years but it really put me off the game.

Has anyone play the demo? What was your opinion?

I've been re-playing Dragon Age: Origins and I was shocked how much things changed in writing in such a short period of time.

It's not the plot but the characters. Flemeth appears intelligent and commands respect without being a girl boss, even Morrigan does not appear as a girl boss despite her jabs at Alister - being voiced by Claudia Black does help.

It is also a lot grimmer, the 2 that die during the ritual to become wardens are made to be liked, the guy that was newly wed with a baby is killed by Duncan because he was afraid. The mages being turned tranquil or killed if they fail a test. You understand why but it is incredibly dark.

The writing is totally incompatible with what ever the DA: Vailguard is. in Origins we understand that killing an innocent father is ok in order to protect the world but in Vailguard it is a problem if you use the wrong pronouns?

I know all the woke leftist crap but did they ever read books or played games written before 2015?

Why are leftiest like this?

The guy had a conservative family that confirmed that he moved away from them politically. He was antifa but we're suppose to believe he was a conservative?

They did the same thing with Trump's assassin.

They're exhausting, I expect soon this to be perpetuated on all media.
