As irritating as he can be, Alan Dershowitz would be way preferable. I know he has represented orange man before.

That being said, what happens with these charges probably has next to zero to do with the skill of his defense. If he gets a super political jury they will convict him and he will have to appeal. If not, then okay.

since Robert Barnes has revealed himself to be a dumb grifter who is only good at being a sycophant

I remember the last time I challenged you on that statement and you bumbled on like hurr durr cause he still supports Trump and hurr durr he said she said BS from the Rittenhouse lawyers.

You liked Barnes, then you incorporated being anti-orange man as an integral part of your identity, and since Barnes still largely supports him you now go around finding any reason to shit on him. It's unsightly.

are a clear grift

I'm not sure you know what that word means. Take issue with his ideas all you want, but it would be very difficult to argue that he was not genuine, and that pretty much absolves someone of being a grifter. Not to mention the way he went out. Totally typical grifter behavior....

Kuribayashi actually deserves admiration, he was essentially the complete opposite of Mishima in literally every way, but I've seen nobody talk about him in all this Mishima bullshit trends as of late.

This is because General Kuribayashi, at least in the West, is almost only ever thought of in the context of the war. Naturally, he is quite laudable and would deserve to be discussed more, but Mishima's activites spanned more fields and a much longer period of time. It's no surprise he is talked about more, and discussion on Mishima is not an inherent diss to Kuribayashi. That being said, I rarely, if ever see westerners talking about Mishima either, so I seem to have completely missed this so-called Mishima trend.

You have not pointed to a single thing Mishima actually did that was positive, all you did was state that he had a political position that you agreed with, without considering the context for his own belief system.

I'm not sure how to even process this statement. You could say similar things for someone like Thomas Sowell. People like him do things both through their literature and through being intelligent, prolific people that have their statements and ideas enter the public consciousness and stand the test of time.

Apparently complaining about pointless and evil loss of life means nothing, its fine if you lose the war but say "globalism bad".

Me scoffing at you bringing up banzai charges has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the fact that it wasn't an uncommon opinion for men his age in Japan. Absolutely no one that likes or respects Mishima does so because they are under the impression that he is some brilliant military strategist. Hurr durr the Founding Fathers didn't like black people. Fuck them and everything they did, right?

And yes, understanding and spreading the word about the evils of globalism is absolutely a big plus. I'll ignore the part where you erect a blatantly reductive strawman there.

You say I'm sperging but I can see the downvote next to my post

I'm not sure you know what that word means. Downvotes != sperging. Also, note how I did not downvote your first posts, despite them being in direct opposition with me. I downvoted when you started making all these grand extrapolations from my words and erecting blatantly reductive strawmen. I downvoted when it became clear you getting emotional about the topic was causing you to fill in the blanks in a retarded manner.

Human life apparently means nothing to a guy on the internet with an admiration boner for someone who happens to agree with one of his political viewpoints.

Strawman. At least feel some shame if you are going to be that blatant.

You still conveniently avoid discussing his actual actions, and you actively dismiss his friends' pointless suicides as "of their own volition".

Because they objectively were of their own volition. That says nothing on whether or not I think it was the right choice, but this is not complicated logic to grasp. I'm confident you can do it.

hopefully you find better people to follow realize how little it means to agree with someone on a single political issue

This is why I started downvoting your comments. I do not "follow" him, whatever that even fucking means, and my posts so far should have made that more than evident by now. The dude rarely comes up in western discourse, so his name rarely even crosses my mind unless I'm cleaning my bookshelf.

That being said, the notion that being anti-globalist is the sole singular thing I've ever agreed with the dude on is also retarded, and not something I ever said or implied in any of my comments. I'll go find better people to "follow" (?) if you go work on your reading comprehension, because going back and forth like this is a waste of time for both of us at this rate.

You are getting a little too worked up. It seems this is a bit of a tense topic for you. Never did I profess myself to be some big Mishima stan, and never once did I ever speak ill of, compare him to, or even mention General Kuribayashi (who I think is very admirable as well).

All I expressed is he "deserves admiration" for "taking a stand," and that the world would in general be a better place if more people took up the general attitude of wanting to maintain one's culture and protect it from external threats. I even qualified my statement, even before all of your sperging, that "this doesn't mean there aren't whack parts about his philosophy." Somehow this made me his biggest fan?

Yet you still can't help but ree about banzai charges and his friends who died with him (of their own volition). I don't subscribe to the typical leftist all or nothing mentality of judging people. Literary contributions aside, he had many views that were based as fuck and some that are pants on head retarded. I am fully capable of respecting the former without it meaning I endorse the latter. I am perfectly capable of respecting and admiring both Mishima and Kuribayashi despite their ideas often being at odds, and there is no hypocrisy or contradiction born of speaking of both of them in a positive light.

People are fully capable of doing their own research and picking and choosing the ideas and actions they agree and disagree with, so I feel no misgivings about speaking positively about Mishima if the situation warrants it. No need to get so worked up and emotional about it. It is no different than me being able to point to plenty of things I like in Uncle Ted's writings while also being able to acknowledge that he did and believed some fucked up things. This doesn't mean I "believe him so strongly" or "support him" which are the grand conclusions you somehow drew from my couple statements of vague praise of Mishima.

Being against globalism doesn't mean much, plenty of cuckservatives can profess the same but fail miserably

Today? Sure, maybe. In the 60's and 70's? While certainly not the only one, it absolutely puts him way ahead of the curve. And comparing him to cuckservatives is a bit excessive. Most cuckservatives are double agent backstabbers trying to pass themselves off as something they aren't. They fail because most don't even want what they claim to want.

There really isn't much for me to say other than that assessment is just unnecessarily harsh. The world would be a much better place today if Japan, and many other countries, maintained a modicum of respect for themselves and their own cultures.

His ideas aren't exactly the most applicable on a grand scale because they are very Japan-specific, so in that sense there really isn't all that much western conservatives have to gain from him, but the nationalism in a general sense in the face of a rapidly cucking society, and having the balls to put one's life on the line to send a message about it certainly earns my respect.

Critique his methods all you want, but Mishima is a certified chad that deserves admiration insomuch as he saw globalism taking root and took a stand against it. It's hard to look at the present state of Japan and think anything other than "yeah, he was largely right." That doesnt mean there aren't whack parts about his philosophy.

I would recommend his Sea of Fertility to anyone who can read Japanese.

I'm lukewarm on the pitch clock; at the very least in my opinion it should be either relaxed or removed for the playoffs. The extra innings rule change becoming permanent is 100x more of an affront to the game than the pitch clock could ever be in my opinion.

It worked on convincing most of America and even other nations that the Age of Consent is 18 as the de facto

Don't even get me started. You'll run afoul of many even on this very board if you begin to imply that the arbitrary age of 18 as determined by the US government isn't sacrosanct.

It is absolutely infuriating. Pardon my spergout for a moment, but in Japanese discourse, the term is very much still reserved for pre-pubescent girls. No one will call your average JK a loli unless she is ridiculously small for her age. Meanwhile, western discourse has slowly pushed the perceived meaning in English as being "any anime girl who even remotely looks like she is probably under 18." No. That is not what the word means. Loli is not synonymous with "girl who is a minor."

Am I the only one who gets unreasonably irritated at people who don't capitalize the beginning of sentences or use periods at the end when they type? They never seem to be intelligent people.

That aside, the logic being employed here is mind numbingly retarded when you actually think about it. Oh, things you used to enjoy no longer align with your values? Well, the natural conclusion of course is to betray your values for some short term hedonistic pleasure, that definitely leads to fulfillment and happiness. The absolute state of normies' minds on leftism.

It's worth noting that it is only an informal fallacy in that just going "A leads to Z because it's a slippery slope" does nothing to show causation. You still need to show that it actually does. My comment is mocking the typical redditor NPC who just parrots "slippery slope is a fallacy REEE" as if the very notion that long chains of cause and effect existing is in itself a fallacy, which of course is a moronic idea to anyone with an IQ above their shoe size.

The part that makes it even more frustrating is the current LGBTWTFBBQ clown world we find ourselves in isn't even that many steps away from just legalizing gay marriage. It was never that convoluted of a chain of cause and effect, yet it doesn't stop people from screeching that slippery slope is a fallacy because they are either retarded or acting in bad faith. Often both.

Wow that last line is a real gut punch. The whole time I'm reading like, this is insanely based for the NYT. This has to be from like 2012 or something. 1979. Holy shit.

Your mileage will vary from person to person. Personally, I'm trying to cut back on wasted time and effort and reduce stress; family and friends that can see through this bullshit are still worth the effort to try to make them see the light. Ones that don't are probably just too far gone.

Being a shittier candidate just for muh electability purposes is not a winning play long term. The overton window needs to shift. Having candidates like her who say the right shit and tell the right people to fuck off is exactly what we need. And the fact remains that she wins barring election shenanigans.

She has since destroyed her future political career by going full "stop the steal" grifter mode where she still gives her supporters false hope that the courts will somehow allow a redo of the election.

She is set for life regardless of what she does. Saying what she is doing is grifting is just you going out of your way to interpret it in that manner. Fighting election integrity battles is a very uphill battle. I'm not over here saying she will be instated as governor, but continuing to keep the issue in the news is important. Continuing to wage legal battle is important. Footage from her case has been the most effective thing when it comes to getting through to my family members that try to pretend no shenanigans are afoot. As blatant as it is, we are still at the part where we need to spread awareness.

I recognize your username as having been here and on reddit for a while, so I will generally defend you when people accuse you of being a shill. But when you pull this "I pray good candidates don't win primaries because they are less likely to win, I would rather have a more milquetoast loser win because they are more electable" shit, it is not hard to see why people call you a shill so often. DeSantis is a bit of an exception, because he has been such a good governor, that at least one can reason that if he does a similar job as president then we could expect him to do a good job. But I dont think anyone is under any similar impressions that the alternatives running in most GOP Governor or senator primaries are similarly solid.

How is Governor Kemp responsible for state legislatures in every swing states allowing mass mail in ballots using COVID as an excuse?

No one implied he is responsible for things outside of his state. But his state was one of the worst, and he didn't even try to pretend to give a shit about it. Oh, the pipe burst and they had to stop counting for the night? No one with an IQ above room temperature actually believes that, and Kemp let it happen, probably because he was in on the joke.

There is especially no evidence to support the claims that Sydney Powell and Lin Wood made regarding Dominion machines being used to steal the election.

I never implied there was. I was never a fan of those theories because they served as a distraction from the actual issues.

The reality is that the left was able to use mail in ballot rule changes to flood the zone with mail in ballots.

That is a big part of it, but a huge portion of the fraud came in the form of signature verification. Percentage of rejected signatures tanked in certain key areas enough to move the needle. The people facilitating the process on the ground know the ballots with non matching signatures are more likely to be voting D. There's a reason dems were more than happy to let people inspect the voting machines, but fought tooth and nail to prevent signature audits. The only small scale signature audit of the 2020 election that I know of in Arizona revealed fraudulent signatures occurring at a rate multiple times what would have swayed the results

I know what happened in 2020 and it could have been entirely prevented had Trump not allowed Fauci to lockdown and if Trump had a better legal team that fought to prevent the mail in ballot changes from taking place before the election.

You're not wrong there. Entirely prevented is a bit much, but there's a good chance prevented enough to change the result.

The lockdowns allowed swing state legislatures the cover to push mass mail in ballot rule changes.

One of the major issues is that the legislature is not what authorized a lot of the changes that allowed shenanigans to take place. Constitutionally that is how it is supposed to happen, but that is not what happened in many places.

What you call "stealing the election" is unfortunately technically legal thanks to the lack of election integrity regarding mail in ballots.

Anything that is approved by Congress and sanctioned by the courts is technically legal from a process standpoint. That says nothing about whether anything untoward did or did not happen, and whether more could have been done to prevent it if it did.

Thanks to Trump endorsing shit candidates in those states, nothing has changed with regards to election integrity in those states.

Kari Lake was an amazing candidate. PA there was never any chance to win. Both of those states are still heavily fortified. Lake got screwed even more blatantly than orange man.

Trump is not going to be able to win a national election in 2024.

Much to your chagrin we will likely get to see whether or not that is true. Barring major medical trouble.

Because lolis are everything that they are not. Cute, feminine, endearing, etc. They desperately want to be these things, but they know deep down they never will.

I have noticed the trans crowd has a special hatred for them, but leftist women tend to have that hatred too. And when I say hatred I mean independent from "eww its icky pedo stuff and I dont like it." It tends to stem from similar reasons as the trans crowd. Leftist women tend to be more likely to be fat, ugly, etc. So men idolizing something that is the exact opposite of them really strikes a nerve.

Its just so frustrating. Because he should be able to take the nuanced position of "yeah Trump fucked up X, Y, Z etc, as such I do not want him to run and will not vote for him. However, I can still acknowledge the fortifying that went on in 2020." But he literally can't. Because it would be seen as some sort of moral victory for orange man or something? I dont even know.

3
Bouldabassed 3 points ago +4 / -1

You're doing it again. Some of your criticism is valid. Orange man obviously has a lot of things he deserves criticism for. But then you veer into territory that is a stretch at best, like praising an establishment neocon because you perceive him as having stood up to Trump.

You even admit that you yourself constantly downvote me because you clearly get upset that I dare criticize Trump.

Are you so far gone that you can't realize your framing here is completely different than what I said?

You basically are a Trump dickrider since you cannot even accept that valid criticism of him can exist.

Surely you can realize how much of a strawman this is. Your posts are often times based around kernels of truth where orange man did screw the pooch and does deserve criticism, but then you ruin it by dialing it up to 11 and going past the realm of reality. Like this post actually.

Again, the fact that you get even mild pushback and immediately conclude "you're just a Trump dickrider who can't accept that valid criticism of him exists" is the height of ridiculousness, even without considering the fact that I've made plenty of comments here over the past couple years that have been critical of him.

This is another reason why people downvote your posts without comment. Usually I enjoy discussion on this board. The quality of discourse is high, and even if I disagree with someone I tend to come away glad that I had a discussion with them. But it isn't that way with you when it comes to Trump, despite the fact that I know I've had good discussion with you on other topics in the past. Talking with you about Trump makes me feel like I'm back on reddit, where you offer any slight pushback on something and are immediately greeted with emotionally charged logical fallacies.

3
Bouldabassed 3 points ago +4 / -1

Are you really this tone deaf? It's because you're becoming a meme, dude. Like the other user said, you're essentially becoming Imp except for Trump. Your anti Trump posts come off as impassioned ramblings of someone who goes around accusing everyone else of being blinded by their bias while being blatantly blinded by your own. This is why people (myself often included) downvote your posts without comment.

3
Bouldabassed 3 points ago +4 / -1

Thats the thing though, you act like this place is patriots.win. Where is all the blind Trump dickriding that you act like is so prevalent on this board? I dont pretend to have read every comment and every post here, but I do read most of them. I dont see much orange man dickriding, but I do see you pretending that any slight pushback against your zealous rantings is Trump dickriding.
