Science as a religion has been the most peculiar and dogmatic trend in western culture. It would be hard to argue a more destructive force in the west since the protestant reformation of the church and the mass destruction of religious art and literature. The appraisal of science only extends to when it dares question Christianity and Western philosophy.
That's the messed up part of it - if it's science they can use to further their agenda, like climate change, they're all for it. If it's science that refutes their bullshit, like basic biology showing that Homo sapiens is a slightly dimorphic species with differing sex organs and secondary sex characteristics, then you're a sexist, misogynistic, transphobic Nazi for believing it.
These people could win gold medals if the Olympics held events in mental gymnastics.
