I'd support Mozart or Van Gogh getting $1000 a month in state subsidies, but not modern artists who just fling their feces at the wall and call it art.
Artists who are good enough to bring value to a location with their works probably don't need any money from the government to begin with (excluding if they get commissioned by the government of course).
A lot of genuinely good artists in the past never made it because their art was not appreciated. Of course, now the feces-flingers get government subsidies, because bureaucrats and the 'art community' as re not the best judge of art.
