I’ve said that the kill order on Bin Laden was the one thing I could wholeheartedly praise Obama on. Are you telling me, right now, that he had this execution staged in order to frame another country as “protecting the world’s most wanted man?”
I think Bush wanted to keep the war going and Obama wanted a legacy. Iran was a safe place to keep him because State would never let a raid happen there. Pakistan had already learned to live with our guys running around.
Remember that Obama was attacked in 2008 by everyone for saying that he would order troops into Pakistan to take out Osama bin Laden. This was seen as naivite and inexperience.
He did it, and it worked out quite well. Biden opposed the raid.

There were US forces in Pakistan from the begining. We started building up their military with equipment and advisors immediately after 9/11.
IIRC, they killed Bin Laden as well as his son during the raid. An experimental helicopter also crashed, and the salvage was sent to china.
If this was all political theater, someone extremely fucked up during the raid.
If this is true, I doubt that anyone wearing a uniform was aware.
