I grew up in a solid democrat household and was a social libertarian until a few years ago.
World War T proved the slippery slope is absolutely real and anyone who denies it is supporting the slide down.
And I'll take it one step further outside the current overton window. Homosexuality, along with any deviant (or even an excessive level of normal) sex obsession, is a mental illness and should be treated as such.
Don't ask don't tell and sodomy laws are the correct place to be, along with a separation of the public and private spheres. We pretend in public that everyone is normal. Men are expected get married to women, have a family, and raise children. Those who fail to do so are properly looked down upon. After they are married whether they dress up in women's clothes or like to suck cock on the side is something that is kept behind closed doors and dealt with in the not brought up in polite company.
Hypocrisy is the lubricant that allows the gears of society that are made up of many different and fundamentally incompatible kinds of people to function. Fuck who you want in private, pretend to be normal in public.
I don't want a new slippery slope from "if we accept that men aren't women, then we will slip back to criminalizing homosexuality".
Homosexuality is obviously a disorder of sexual attraction. Sexual attraction is there because it makes people reproduce. But there is no effective way to change sexual orientation, like there is no way to change your sex.
Your sex life is private matter though, agreed on that, and over-representation in the media in the futile hope to normalize what is not the norm needs to stop.
