Even if the film was totally apolitical, it'd still be massively hypocritical of Cohen to make it. Back when the first one came out, Kazakhstan had to put out notices that their country wasn't at all as depicted in Borat. Wealthy Jewish man mocking the shit out of and stereotyping these people as poor, backwards and practically subhuman
Which is fine; I laughed my ass off at the first film and recognise it's not real. Cohen is the first to freak the fuck out about anyone else doing it, though. 70% Muslim as of 2009; sure looks like the usual thing that gets protected
