There are Canada-ers and Canadurrs, just like with any group.
Honestly, maybe this is the Bloc in me speaking, but Canadians, the real issue, is they don't act like Canadians. Canadians do not own their past mistakes, instead deflecting to America. Canadians do not own their past accomplishments, viewing them as abhorrent or chauvinistic. There are Canadians who, right now, are (relatively) of sound mind and body, who were alive when Canada was treating natives like the Nazis treated gypsies... That was only four decades ago. Bring it up, and immediately it is "but the Americans-".
Bring up our WW1 and WW2 achievements? Oh, that wasn't us. Bring up our inventions? We can't take credit for the actions of our forefathers. Bring up slavery, despite being the place the slaves fled TO? Oh, suddenly we take 100% credit for not OUR forefathers, but those of entirely different nations. BLM rides strong in the major cities, because those cities were totes built on... slave labor? Maybe of natives or asians, but it's SUCH a good opportunity to feel guilty over something that we won't let something like "facts" get in the way.
So many Canadians have a deep hatred of the concept of "Canada", of national pride and national responsibility. The joke goes "A Canadian is just an unarmed American with healthcare", but I think that joke is too literally true. A Canadian is an American, not a Canadian. There's no nation, every queue is taken from an Amero-centric perspective on one side, or a global-internationalist perspective on the other. Very, very few Canadians are Canadian. They're guilty-feeling Americans, or World Citizens, or both. But they're not Canadian.
That is depressing. How did it get to this point or was it always like this? I find it so strange to have a good country and not feel any pride in it, it goes against human nature. We have pride in our home town even if we no longer live there, we have pride in our high schools accomplishments years after you graduate and so forth, there is nothing wrong with it except if you are a current day globalist.
That is all Trudeau Sr.'s doing. He started the whole "Multiculturalism is great, Cultural Mosaic" Bullshit. The dude straight hated 80% of the Country and figured his policies would harm the Anglos the most.
