When the "time out" form of punishment started, I wondered where it would lead. Here we are with a generation of adults taught to marinate in their own guilt, believing that forcing guilt on others is justice, venting all that frustration out on strangers while taking satisfaction in it, and fearlessly talking like people who have never been knocked the fuck out.
It's generations of people who have spent their entire lives being able to tattle to a higher authority.
At least these hard times will help forge hard men.
Even what little training in fighting I did made me a lot more humble. Before I respond to provocation or talk shit myself I'm always thinking "is this worth getting blood all over my clothes, mine or his". And 99% of the time the answer is no.
Alllowing the notion that violence is universally undesirable and wrong and serves no purpose to take root was such a mistake. So many of these people just need to learn from the experience of being punched in the face. Not with malicious intent to injure even, but to viscerally understand just how fragile everything is, including themselves.
Getting punched in the face by someone who actually knows how to throw a punch is such a valuable experience.
feeling an emotion and reacting to that emotion is what passes for intellectual discourse now. take a look at all of reddit over the last few years
I remember my first time out at school. I took a nap, because I was a first grader and didn't feel guilt.
