As someone who followed gg at the beginning but not too closely (although I am very much for what it’s message is ) I wasn’t aware that there were ever 2 KiA. Could someone give me the cliffs notes version of what happened?
I did notice that KiA had a “whitelist” and a “blacklist” on topics to be discussed which put me off a bit.
I was a little bit amused when one of the first things one of the moderators said was that they would enforce the identity-group-thingy. Here. On .win.
I mean KIA2 did too. On reddit. Because reddit said so.
Did we? Some stuff obviously goes over the line, like 'niggers are subhuman and should be lynched', or trying to make this another Stormfront. But the lengths to which we have to take it on Reddit, no.
There were a lot of "This post constitutes an attack on a group based on identity bla bla bla" (paraphrasing here) posts on KIA2. At least when you read it half a day late, like I do because I live on the other end of the world.
Of course I cannot say how many of them were of the 'niggers are subhuman and should be lynched'-variety but I am sure there were enough that were less harmful.
If i remember correctly, Domitius sometimes commented how much he hated to enforce this rule when he still bothered to comment. I understand why he stopped though, the rule was overly vague and completely bonkers to enforce.
That is just DoM's way of saying that Reddit retards view it as an attack on identity group <insert retarded group>. I can certainly see why you would misinterpret that as him making that judgment, but that is dealing with sitewide enforcement.
I think DoM forgot a rule: no Aussies.
Same for me, though sometimes I did not mind. People posting echoes and retarded anti-Jewish memes are poison to a community. But a lot of other times, when it's someone writing an excellent post and just pointing out that some people are retards or faggots, that really pains me to have to nuke that work and deny people the ability to read it.
Oi, we aren't all like raaraa
I didn't misread it. I explicitely said that it was done on reddit because of reddit. I know (or hoped, one can't ever be too sure) that the enforcement of this rule wasn't something either of you wanted to do. Trust me, i know that it was the mods enforcing whatever they thought reddit meant with these rules (because spez couldn't be arsed to admit what he really meant. funny how they admitted it now just to track back half a day later when it was clear that not everyone was as insane as they are)
I'm okay with that. I live on the other other end of the planet. Aussies can go stick something up theirs as far as I am concerned. j/k
I don't know. I think these things would sort themselves out sooner or later. On the other hand, I don't have to (or want to) deal with shit like deciding what can or cannot be said.
