Hollywood is extremely limited on their knowledge of anything. I saw a movie the other year that had a skate competition. They had Tony Hawk as a special appearance and only talked about his 900.
Jackie Chan has admitted he has stuntmen, but Hollywood still says he does his own tricks. Jackie Chan meets Jet Li had a white kid for no foreseeable reason.
Chow Yoon Fat is more known for his work with John Woo. We always have him in a wire fu movie. John Woo is still making movies and CYF has retired.
Jean Reno played mostly grumbly dads, but he appeared in one film as a killer and that was all the films he made in the USA and Japan. Imagine Danny Tanner with a gun and you get the weirdness. Speaking of which, he was the reason why Princess Padme didn't appear naked and try to sleep in his bed in the film.
Americans never caught on to the comedy within Power Rangers that Sentai always portrayed. If you want serious check out Goro.
Nintendo had to fight Universal on Mario movies and theme parks.
Spielberg made happy movies and was told he wouldn't amount to anything because his literal friends made sad movies. George Lucas was dared to not make an artsy film, and it became Star Wars.
Hollywood is dumb. It's always been dumb and greedy.
This is definitely generally correct... however....
I will say that as I've been reading over production notes for a lot of older films, from the 70s up through the 90s, some of the execs did have some common enough sense to actually want to make either good films or successful films, before they went full Jew-woke.
For instance, Sam Raimi had written Darkman for Bruce Campbell, but the execs shot that down and said no. Why? They felt that Campbell wouldn't have been able to carry the more dramatic sense to juxtapose the comedy, and it would have taken away from the film. Were they right? Maybe, maybe not. But they instead selected Liam Neeson because they felt he would have been able to balance the comedy with the action and drama to draw a wider audience... and they were actually right about that, even though I love Campbell.
Same thing with Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I believe the director wanted the film to stay black and white the entire way through, but the execs suggested adding colour throughout the film as it progressed, giving it a unique visual tone. Can't say I disagreed with that decision.
Hollywood execs also wanted Demolition Man to star Arnie and Sly originally, and then JCVD and Steven Seagal as a backup, both of which would have made MASSIVE bills at the box office, but all four men declined to be the villain because they felt that it would detail their momentum in Hollywood (which is partially true, but only if you have limited acting range),
That said, current Hollywoke is beyond saving. You're right that they could have easily hired some South Korean K-pop star for any film and it would instantly boost the appeal of the film/series IF the idea was to hire an Asian. Even if they can't speak English, keep the dialogue sparse and focus on the plot instead. Heck, that's basically what they did for the international spy-thriller, The Berlin File, which was a badass film.
But current Hollywoke doesn't want money, they want to push the DEI message.
