If you're not going to Switch to Linux, IoT LTSC is the best Windows I've used in ages. I still have it on one Windows PC, it's clean never tries to push AI shit and ads and all that on it. I guess I have a dual-boot on my gaming PC but I haven't booted that in so long I don't even know what's on there.
The hardest part is if you need the Xbox Gaming Services type stuff for something it's tricky to set up. There's a couple things like Windows photo viewer that are a bit of work as well if you used that it won't work without either installing MS Store and re-bloating it, or just finding something else. The base install only comes with Calculator, Notepad, Paint, and a couple other old type things.
I mean, Windows 7 was the best OS I'd used in ages right up until I caved a couple years ago and moved to Windows 10 LTSC, but I'd agree that it's probably the best of what's currently available and is what the default configuration of the OS really should be.
