One of their generals wrote in one of the CCP's strategy papers that the more they allowed the West to exploit their cheap labor, and thereby become dependent on Chinese labor, the more they could get away with subverting us. Eventually, they estimated, we wouldn't be able to stop them without hurting ourselves. America has given up so many industries to China, for so long, that we don't have any or enough trained people to resume those industries without considerable time and expense.
