Difference is people paid for that. If you trick people into personally paying for something, it’ll result in sunk-cost mentality and they’ll let many things slide. Flock cameras are paid for by your taxes (your stolen money) to spy on you. That knee jerks people to look the other way.
Flock cameras also cost thousands of dollars (for a device that can be built for $20 worth of parts) because the government pays for them and doesn't give a shit about frugality. So if they get destroyed, they just have to tax us more to funnel even more money to their friends that work for Flock camera.
That sucks...if you pay taxes...
It sucks regardless. It just sucks worse if it's your own money being used to fund it.
I wouldn't want this surveillance system even if Flock were paying all of the tax payers for the privilege of installing it.
