I think it's proof that no matter how ridiculous it is they can still make money if "done right".
Even if your woke subversive malicious adaptation makes money, you still lost all of the money you would have made if it had been good.
People are so financially illiterate when it comes to movies. Probably deliberately so.
Any money made is money laundered into the hands of the 'right people'
Then there's the 'modern audience' ie the kids who will grow up without having seen anything better in the theaters. It's not for us, it's meant to mold the environment which will be the 'new normal' for our children. When nobody remembers better, this will be looked back at nostalgically.
When you consider the losses, as you have, you have to look at them as loss-leaders, purchasing the above things. Then you have to remember that when you own the mint, money is infinitely inflatable and fake; only then does buying cultural control with fiat make a certain amount of sense.
It's proof that too many people are cattle who will just slurp up whatever shit is thrown their way then.
