That’s why pixel games are still a thing. When I first started seeing those “retro” games in the mid-2000s, I knew it was White guys making these games having fun and re-living their childhoods. Now I’m sure these devs are all minorities pushing their limits making these games. Same case here with the remake.
A lot of people like pixel art and other stylized art, including those born well after 2000. Good artwork that fits a game brings players in and good gameplay keeps them.
I must be becoming an old soul disconnected with the market though...I can't understand what I'm looking at when I watch some newer games which are either so stylized or unstylized (literally just random incohesive marketplace slop; or minimal effort pixel art)...yet they've gone viral and regularly have tens of thousands of concurrent players.
