It's worse than that. BlueSky has been deemed "Safe" by the UK government and so only restrictions to "Adult specific" content requires minors to comply with their verification methods, others can use it as normal.
But other platforms haven't been deemed "Safe" and require everyone to give up their identification to third-party vendors who have already been hacked multiple times.
So the verification is nonsense, but the fact that BlueSky - a notoriously famous CSAM conduit - has been deemed "Safe" shows that those deciding who gets to do what are not looking after the safety of children whatsoever.
Tl;dr; the UK government is forcing everyone to go onto the darkweb lest they get called names like "Nazi" or "Misogynist" by people who hate both free speech and women.
If I'm remembering right, Australia did the same keeping Bluesky off their ban list but I think they banned themselves anyway....or at least they're STILL unpopular with everyone not full left brain that even as the LAST option they won't be used...
