Started a new job a few months ago after working remotely since Covid. I'm back in the office, which to my surprise I actually enjoy, but only because I have my own office and my role doesn't require much interaction with others.
However, my office is close to the offices of several women and I was quickly reminded how much time women waste. They have hours long discussions about anything and everything besides actual work. They take multiple walks throughout the day that last 30-40 minutes.
I'd estimate that of the 8 hours they spend in the office, maybe 90 minutes of that time is spent on actual working.
I don't pay their salaries so it's whatever, but holy shit it's almost impressive how much time they waste talking about their weekend, planning their next vacation, etc. Just totally fucking useless.
congrats on quitting.
Looking back - was it adult daycare or did you change anything in the world?
Early on it was good actually. I wouldn't call it change the world but without getting too far into things that would identify me, we build actual physical functional things not just numbers. Last ~8 years was daycare, or at the very least I'd say the expectations got so low it became that. More people, more diversity, less production.
I still sort of work for all these companies, but I'm in the contractor space. Every time they hire a new Indian or oust a mostly white guy, whatever they were doing gets outsourced and the people remaining inside are just paper pushers. I think that's something that's missed is a lot of times is how much of the actual work is just done by contractors and in my stuff that's still white-guy leaning.
