I remember the campaigns 20 years ago, in Quebec, telling us these knives couldn't be used for violence and should be allowed in high schools or we were racists. They kept showing these had like 3 layers of security before they could be used as weapons. I wonder how many times they were used to kill someone, since. It's not like the media would have talked about it even if I paid attention to local news...
