Old Testament dietary laws , of which there are @612, were meant for the Israelites to differentiate themselves from pagans. Every creature created by God is good and nothing to be refused as long as received with thanksgiving (again Timothy 4:4). This is part of the New Covenant that was established by Jesus. But again this is also a matter of personal choice among Christians even today.
