Gaming really has gone to shit. I love the old stuff. It doesn't have to be that old, but I remember when you could own the game CDs. Even better were game demos in magazines September through December. Those were the best of gaming years. Then gen z complained demos weren't perfect and company's stopped releasing them
I miss the feel of the old PS1 CD cases. I miss the artwork and the manuals etc you would get, where it felt like the game devs actually liked you and wanted you to be happy.
And yeah man, don’t get me started on demo discs. I had a pile of those higher than my stack of actual games lol. I had the OG PlayStation one - the one that had Tekken, Rage racer, Porsche challenge and that walking T-Rex you could partially control.
Man do I miss those demo discs -- great music, fun times, awesome games.
Whenever there is a rare game that launches on the Switch/Switch 2 that isn't woke trash, I actually buy a physical copy (like Terminator 2D).
Was well worth the price and came with a full case, booklet, and some other trinkets. Felt like a proper game that would have released on the SNES back in the 1990s.
I remember when you just downloaded hacked warez games and didn't care if your computer got infected with a virus because all you did was use it to play video games and look up conspiracy theories anyways and had extra warez versions of windows to reinstall after a total disk format.
