Speaking of slicing wrists? A friend (long ago) was in Papua New Guinea' VERY remote coastal jungle area (where the cannibals used to live) when he hacked his wrist with an axe. A Catholic Nun stitched up his tendons & wound (no anesthetic) & his friends carried him over mountains & valleys for 2 full days (he immediately got a fever) to the nearest village with a doctor. His scar is... remarkable! But he retained 90% use of his hand due to that Nun's expert stitching. It was a 45 degree cut :/
