Don't pay the danegeld. Don't invite a vampire in. Slay the dragons invading your lands. Rebuke Satan any time he approaches. The fey come bearing gifts but accepting them in, their free offering will cost even more than your life.
It's a recurring theme throughout the tales of history: Stop letting evil into your home. It didn't work out then. Or then. Or then. Or then. Or then. And it won't work out now.
One of the better story arcs in Frieren is the little demon girl taken in by a villager family. Demons and humans cannot co-exist, even if you are endlessly kind to them & teach them the trappings of civilization, they're still demons to the core.
A great arc is the "Demon Diplomats".
