Exactly. When I'm victimised, my priority is not the poor victim of circumstance who stole my wallet, it's that I'm a) made whole and b) won't be victimised again.
I have to wonder how many victims of these criminals are immediately victimised again as soon as they get out (especially in Black neighbourhoods). It's not even just about removing generally dangerous people from society but protecting the actual victim from retribution for going to the authorities in the first place.
Sadly, I'm coming to understand why Blacks don't call the police; not because of BLM "cops finna shoot me" nonsense but because they're almost certain to have their life made even worse when the system fails to hold their a user in prison.
