Feminists and the dual income economy. The entire trajectory of the decline in birth rates in the US is nearly 1:1 with feminism and the civil rights movement. This also tracks in all first world nations.
The idea that perpetual economic growth is possible is another one when clearly it can never be the case. They'll keep squeezing us until total collapse happens.
Housing is also a big factor. When people can't afford a permanent place to live, especially when the average age of first ownership is so high, you get a big delay in marriage and having children. Add in the broken culture, crap economy, propaganda that you need to be in the perfect place financially before you have kids, among other things.
Eh, maybe. Personally, I've got two teenagers in a two bedroom apartment and we make it work. I've seen immigrants squeeze three or four kids into the same space I have.
I think this is a propaganda thing. Maybe it's different in the States, but raising kids in Canada is actually pretty cheap. I don't think I've ever had to buy brand new clothes for them, other than undergarments, because there's just so much lightly used stuff everywhere. Ditto with toys. And, because no one is having kids but biology is still a thing, women constantly try to buy things for my kids. Not just family, like arms-length aquaintances. The biggest expense is food but the government gives up to $600 per kid per month so, whatever.
So yeah, I think what you are describing is the propaganda that stops people having kids, rather than the reality.
